Launch of voucher Assistance program for vulnerable families affected by Coid-19

In complimenting the government of Kenya’s effort to cushion vulnerable families weather shocks from Covid-19 pandemic, SOS CV Kenya in partnership with local supermarket chains like Naivas supermarket, Tessia supermarket (Busia),Soko ndogo stores launched a voucher Assistance program that targets vulnerable household in seven counties; Kisumu, Busia, Homabay, Eldoret, Meru Mombasa and Nairobi.

Voucher Assistance is a common humanitarian action tool used when provision of cash or distribution of material aid is deemed impossible due to factors like insecurity; logistical challenges and where beau acratic processed inhibit an agency from reaching its target group.

The voucher assistvance program is an initiative under Family Strengthening program whose main goal is to reduce vulnerabilities at family level and empower caregivers to protect their children. A total of 921 vulnerable families made up of at least five members will receive vouchers of sum total of ksh 15,000 spread across three months period. Each family will redeem the voucher for predefined food and nonfood items from convenient stores in their locality.
